Client:

Our client is one of the UK’s leading veterinary specialist centres that provides secondary and tertiary referral-only specialist veterinary care for dogs and cats. Our client offers services in all of the major disciplines and is supported by an incredible team of Anaesthesiologists and multiple board certified Radiologists.

The hospital has grown rapidly to become one of the largest, truly multi-disciplinary, Specialist veterinary referral centres in Europe, currently employing 48 specialist veterinary clinicians, 30 residents and 17 interns along with 250-strong support staff, which includes over 100 registered veterinary nurses. Our client sits in a fantastic location with rail connections to London, the Midlands and the stunning East Anglian coast. Stansted airport is only 30 minutes away by car. There is also a 24/7 referral-only services for patients across the UK in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, clinical pathology and histopathology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, physiotherapy and soft tissue surgery. The clinic is fully equipped with the surgical, diagnostic and hospitalisation facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary centre. There is an onsite reference laboratory with both in-house clinical pathology and diagnostic histopathology as well as their own veterinary nurse training academy that currently has 82 students registered. Later this year they are due to open a 32,000 ft2 (3,000 m2) extension that will double the size of their facilities and create a truly world class centre of excellence.

Role:

As well as a proactive, friendly working environment and class-leading clinical standards, this position offers excellent career prospects, with the position of Head of Service open to interested and appropriately experienced candidates.

A competitive remuneration package including a generous salary, pension provision, private health insurance, income protection and life assurance schemes and family focused leave provision alongside annual study leave and CPD allowances.

Clinical research activity and participation is positively encouraged and colleagues currently collaborate with scientific, medical and veterinary institutions across the UK and further afield in many ongoing studies.

Candidate:

Successful applicants will be Board-Certified in Small Animal Surgery or Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery by the American, European, Australian or Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and be eligible for RCVS Specialist status. Applications from experienced residency trained candidates, eligible to sit the qualifying specialist examinations for these colleges, will also be welcomed.
