We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent practice in Manchester who is seeking an experienced small animal vet to join the team on a permanent basis.

The Practice:
Our client is a small, friendly, family run veterinary surgery based in Manchester. They have been providing care to pets for over 30 years. They aim to provide a service that they themselves would expect for their pets and pride themselves in caring for pets as if it were one of their own.

Over the years they have developed a loyal, long standing client base. This has mainly been down to word of mouth and we value the relationships they have built up with our clients and their pets.

Services offered include Dermatology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Radiography, Oncology, Endocrinology, Ultrasound, Neurology, Urology, Gastroenterology, In House Laboratory, Haematology, and Biochemistry.

They are a small, friendly team, everyone gets on well and the vets are keen to discuss and work up cases together where necessary. They are always looking for new, enthusiastic people to bring new skills to the team. They have digital X-ray, a new ultrasound machine and in house lab, they are also a nurse training practice.

The Role:
Our client is solely small animal. The working week would be 4.5 days with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (08:30-13:00). There are no OOH requirements as they use a 24-hour provider for this.

The day to day duties would be a mix of routine consultations and surgery. They usually have visits several days a week so the vet may be required to go on home visits where necessary so a full, clean driving licence and car would be required. They work closely with outside specialists that visit the surgery when required, they currently work with an orthopaedic surgeon, soft tissue surgeon, ultrasonographer, and cardiologist. This provides a great service to their clients and lets the vets get involved with more complicated surgeries and cases as the specialists are always keen to impart their knowledge.

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, dedicated & caring. The role would suit a strong all-rounder, equally adept at medicine & surgery, but the practice is also happy to help someone to increase their knowledge and build their confidence and skill set.

A candidate with 2-3 years’ experience in practice would be ideal and salary on offer would be up to around £40,000 dependent on clinical, client care and communication skills and experience.

Our client encourages and funds CPD, RCVS and VDS fees as well as a workplace pension. There would be 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays.

Type: Permanent Veterinary Surgeon
Hours: Full-Time
Weekends: 1:3
OOH: None
Salary: Around £40,000 dependent on clinical
