Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Bridgend

Type: Small Animal

Location: Bridgend

Practice Type: RCVS-accredited small animal hospital

Team: The current practice team is made up of 14 vets. They have a supportive team that works hard and socialises together, there is a healthy mix of newly qualified vets and highly experienced vets. Their team contains multiple certificate holders, both vets and nurses. In addition, they collaborate with visiting specialists in cardiology and ophthalmology. As a result, they are very fortunate not to refer many cases and to provide a full and varied in-house service.

Services/Facilities: They are an independent and growing, small animal and exotics practice, with an accredited RCVS hospital and 3 branches. They are proud to have a purpose-built hospital with all the facilities and equipment to enable us to deliver a gold-standard level of animal care.

Role: Due to continuing organic growth, our client is currently looking to recruit a permanent veterinary surgeon.

Candidate: For an experienced veterinary surgeon (Minimum 2 years UK experience post qualification), they offer the opportunity to expand surgical experience through a busy and varied surgical list, gain sole charge experience at the branch level, and further enhance medical knowledge via a busy hospital ward and in-house emergency service. They are fully supportive of further training ambitions and certificates are encouraged.

Hours: This is a permanent full-time role, full details to be discussed in the interview.

Weekends: The weekend coverage is 1 in 4. However, the practice believes in true work-live balance and to ensure their Vets get this balance right there are rota’d days off after OOH work. While on call you have the support of a senior vet as a “back-up” to discuss cases, assist you, and attend if required.

OOHS: They have a great team of nurses who will support you. This includes a head nurse, a specialist theatre nurse, 8 RVN’s and 8 SVN’s. Their fantastic nurses are here 24-7 and answer their out of hour’s calls. This means that you’re on-call duty only involves the actual emergency work.  They pride themselves on providing a full out-of-hours emergency service and this is shared on a rota basis.

Package: The package on offer includes a competitive salary package depending on experience, CPD allowance, RCVS Fees paid, and 5 weeks holiday.
