Facilities: They are a Royal College Accredited Small Animal Practice. This means that they conform to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme. To be awarded this status, they meet strict criteria for the provision of facilities, diagnostic equipment (such as x-rays, ECG, ultrasound, and laboratory analysis), nursing care, anaesthesia, and medications. They are also approved by the RCVS as a Training Practice for Veterinary Nurses.
Team Info: Join their talented, friendly dedicated team of 3.5 Vet team, 4 RVNs 2 ACAs, and 2 Receptionists in a long-established independent small animal practice, where they can focus every day on ensuring a genuine work and life balance.
Role: They are looking for an experienced vet, with at least 3 to 4 years in practice, preferably part-time but very happy to consider more days.
Duties: With structured days, no long hours, consultations by appointment, a wide range of clinical treatment options and medicines and no OOH you can help to deliver great outcomes for patients and clients as demonstrated in their reviews, thank you cards adorning the walls and a never-ending supply of chocolates, biscuits, cakes from owners and even hampers and bubbly at Christmas time. All consultations are by appointment.
Hours: The following is based on a full-time role. This can be modified for a 3-day week of course.
- Average 39.5 hours/week full-time and pro-rata for part-time (arranged to suit)
- 15 minutes consultation times but double appointments are given for more time-consuming cases.
- Monday - Friday 09:00-18:30 (of which one-half day a week from 13:30)
- Saturdays 09:00-13:00 - 1 out of 4 assisted by an RVN and receptionist or ACA
- No OOH
- They close on most Public Holidays and if they do have to work one usually Good Friday / Bank Holiday Mondays a day off in lieu given
Skills/Exp: They are looking for a senior experienced veterinary surgeon to join their new and recent graduates and to share consultations, dentals, medical, and surgical procedures.
Support: Choose the CPD courses that suit you and when it suits you and they will tweak the rota to facilitate this.

- Glasgow University Clinical Club monthly meetings and Vets Now CPD days
- Further afield there is the London Vet Show.
- Or if you prefer online courses sometimes too in the comfort of your own home.
- Dr. Chris Parratt who provides referral Cardiology with Echocardiography, Abdominal Ultrasonography, and Endoscopy at his nearby clinic Crumpets offers CPD
- Pharmaceutical companies will do ‘Lunch and Learn ‘ topics in-house at the practice which vary widely from skin treatments to osteoarthritis pain relief to gastrointestinal disease to ecto and endoparasiticides (the lunches vary too but the most popular requests are still pizza and vegan wraps!)
- They also encourage sharing your knowledge and when time allows they have Case study meetings or just bombard them at any time with all your news from a CPD experience
Salary: Our client is open to discussing the salary of this role, which would be reflective of skills, experience, and hours agreed.
