The Role:
- The client is looking for an experienced Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team.
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside two other Veterinary Surgeons, a Practice Manager, a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse, three Registered Veterinary Nurses, two Veterinary Care Assistants, and two Receptionists.
Duties:
- As the Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will be line managed by the Practice Manager and will be responsible for managing the Veterinary Surgeons, acting as the clinical lead for the practice, and overseeing clinical governance.

- The other Veterinary Surgeons are 8 years and 24 years post-graduation, and the practice is looking for an experienced Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon who can support and develop the team as a whole.
- Approximately 70% of your time will be spent being a vet, and the remaining time on managerial duties.
The Hours: A 40-hour work week over 4 days, including one Saturday morning every three weeks. No out-of-hours required
The Candidate:
- The ideal candidate should have strong clinical experience, experience in leading a team, and must be customer-centric.
- Strong small animal veterinary knowledge and significant experience with diagnostic, medical, and surgical (routine and emergency) caseloads.
- Experience or appreciation of working in a charity environment would be beneficial.
- While it is not essential, a certificate holder or someone working towards a certificate would be ideal.

- The practice is housed in a purpose-built facility that opened in early 2022. It is fully equipped with an operating theatre, a large prep room, three consultation rooms, separate cat and dog recovery wards, an isolation ward, a diagnostic imaging room, a separate dental room, an in-house laboratory area, a dedicated reception area, a laundry/autoclave room, and a vet office.
- The practice provides veterinary services for all of the dogs in the care of the charity, which is approximately 135 dogs from two rehoming centres in Solihull and Wolverhampton. The practice also has an external client base from the local community with pets such as dogs, cats, and small furries.
- Out-of-hours services and emergency support for dogs at the Birmingham Centre are provided by Willows Vet Centre and Referral Services and St George’s Vet Group for the dogs at the Wolverhampton Centre.
