RVN internal Medicine + Oncology- Hampshire Ringwood

Practice: Group Practice - Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a multidisciplinary referral centre, providing a variety of interesting cases and opportunity to improve your skills. The practice has in the region of 80 nurses across the hospital, the wards team includes day, twilight and night nurses supported by VCAs. 

Facilities:

  • The internal medicine team have the benefit of working alongside other specialists in neurology, cardiology, surgery and dermatology; as well as their specialist diagnostic imagers. This allows for a multi-disciplinary approach to patients with complex problems. Fully equipped on-site and in-house professional laboratory On-site 64 slice helical CT with 3D reconstruction and virtual endoscopy.
  • Advanced medical therapies including immunotherapy, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, metronomic chemotherapy, Stelfonta,
  • Separate chemotherapy treatment rooms with closed delivery system and experienced oncology nurses,
  • 1.5 Tesla Hallmarq MR scanner, Siemens Somatom Perspective CT scanner, including cardiac gating software
  • Two ultrasound suites with a Samsung RS80 Evo and Samsung RS-80 with prestige
  • Two radiography units: Direct digital radiography suite (Philips Digital Diagnostic ceiling mounted X-ray tube working with Canon CXDI) and a portable Fuji FDR NanoX-ray machine
  • Two fluoroscopy units Philips BV Pulsera 9”mobile C-arm predominantly used for interventional radiology (in conjunction with our Medicine and Cardiology departments), and a Hologic Insight 2 Mini C-arm, used by the Orthopaedic surgery team.

Duties: Your responsibilities will include active involvement in daily case management, encompassing tasks such as assisting with anaesthesia, conducting diagnostic and medical procedures (including endoscopy and interventional procedures like bronchial and tracheal stent placement). Additionally, you will be engaged in providing nursing care to hospitalised medical patients, offering one-to-one intensive care unit (ICU) support, administering chemotherapeutic treatments, and managing blood transfusion medicine.

Role: They are seeking a registered veterinary nurse with a strong interest in delivering specialised nursing care to patients dealing with chronic medical, acute medical, and oncology conditions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with their specialist clinicians, residents, interns, and medicine/oncology nurses to ensure the delivery of top-notch care to their patients.

Hours: This is a full-time, permanent role, working 40 hours per week with 1:5 weekends. They are happy to consider part-time applications and will be happy to discuss hours to suit you.

Applicant RequirementsThey're looking for a dynamic individual with high attention to detail and an empathetic approach to patient care. You should possess the confidence to take initiative and actively contribute to the care of their patients. Previous experience in a referral practice is beneficial. 

Salary: A competitive base salary up to £35,000 pa.
